In the past couple of years I have seen many medical doctors (this includes anyone indebted to their colleges such as pharmacists and naturopaths) and nurses attempting to combine ‘medicine’ with natural forms of healing, of which they know little.
The supplement industry is being promoted by allopathic medical professionals, armed with scientific studies, by pharmaceutical companies (corporations) that fund these studies. These corporations are attempting capture of the natural health industry.
The sharing of wholistic health practices takes years of study and experience. It is an entirely different educational process than that of institutional medicine. Its implementation is entirely different as well. The proof is in the results. Does it work? Not on paper, but in real life with real people. Applying first do no harm, for real.
In order for those indoctrinated (literally) with medical science to be considered effective in the natural healing realms, they have to be able to give up and let go of many years of belief, investment, and of course finances. The willingness to learn (with a clean slate) a completely new approach is a prerequisite. This may take several years to even begin to truly know any form of natural healing. I was taught to know the remedies and natural therapies wholistically, to their physical and spiritual effects. This is gleaned by doing/using it (long term) before ever recommending. Quite a different approach to prescribing drugs.
I am not saying we cannot work cooperatively, but with the knowing that we are very different. At times medical intervention may be complimentary to a wholistic approach. It is time we reassess the entirety of allopathic medicine. It has become severely corrupted, even criminal in my observation.
Identification with importance that comes with institutional education is a big one. Humility must replace importance. If you are one of those medical professionals who are contemplating taking the leap, please leave your credentials at the door.
Seek humbly, those who are willing to share their knowledge/wisdom. This is where to begin.
Side note- Anyone without education and experience in the realms of wholistic health should sit down and shut up.
Illia Heart IS Correct. Well put!
