It is in the attachment to expectation that many unconscious patterns are perpetuated.

If we complain, we will find things to complain about.

If we look for ways in which to be disappointed, then disappointment we will find.

These are patterns of emotion that require transmutation.

This is where finding where justification comes into play. Look for the ways in which we justify our actions, or others. We can discover a lot this way.

Work with the practice of transmutation. This takes time and effort, yet in retrospect we can observe our progression. The patterns become conspicuous in their absence following consciousness change.
